Joy

Joyce is another girl, born rich and lucky, she wants what she can’t have in life. It’s not because any specific reason, except she never wants to work hard in life. She was fed with a silver spoon in her mouth her whole life, she looked at the world a different way than most people. She thought the world was the most perfect place, whimsical and mystical. She had no idea.

Joyce would perform the same events every day in the morning. She would wake up, get ready for the day, tell her assistant what he plan for the day was, then would be off on her way. She had always had some sort of schedule, she was a very organized person. And with this, she would begin her day. The one day Joyce was suppose to go on a nature walk with some buddies, she canceled and went to a movie premiere of a boy she thought was cute. They exchanged numbers and she felt like she was on top of the world.

Although when Joyce woke up, her life was different. The world that once was perfect and meaningful turned into a world that was disappointed with the decisions of regret.

A text message was binged to Joyce’s phone.
Brian: Hey, thanks for ditching me on my birthday.
Joyce: Sorry, something suddenly came up.
Brian: Yeah, I can tell. Obviously that something is more important than my birthday.
Joyce: Brian, you’re my little brother, I wouldn’t ditch you for ANYTHING. But like I said, something came up.
Brian: You didn’t even say ‘Happy Birthday’!
Joyce: Sorry. Happy Birthday J
Brian: I don’t care now. You really ruined something that was supposed to be special to me.
Joyce: I said I was sorry I don’t know what else to do.
Brian: Maybe you should ditch people, then you would have nothing to be sorry about.

The text went back and forth the real big fight they have ever gotten into. Later that evening, when returning home, Joyce found a note on the front door :

“Joyce, your brother was very upset about his hiking trip. He wanted you to go. He now asks to go on a trip to Mexico. As harsh as this may seem, we left and you were not invited. He needs some him time, the world can’t always be about you, sweetie. Sorry for the trouble. The house is locked up and for the month you can stay at your apartment. The stuff from the house that is ‘yours’ has already been taken over there. The new apartment is on the beach a nice little place you’ll enjoy. Sunny Shore Drive 445. Max has the directions. Have fun!

WHAT!?!?!!? My family left me here alone, while they went to MEXICO? I can’t believe this. I thought everything was going to be okay.

“Max, where are you?” I slurred out so fast I had to think about what I just said.
“Joy calm down, I’m at your new apartment.” Max said.
There was a long pause.
“And my goodness it’s great here, I’ll send you the directions, real easy to find, IT’S HUGE. See you soon, bye doll!” He said happy with excitement.

My assistant knew my family was leaving for a trip and I was not taken along with because? Oh that’s right, I didn’t go hiking with my brother! Somehow I managed to cool down, I could only think of what if. Life on my own, it’s going to be pretty tough. So on the long drive down on Sunny Shore Drive, 431, 432… 441...445. Wow, this place is huge. The car stopped and I got out, this is going to be my new adventure. My new world. The way I like things, just as I walked up to the door, millions of thought jumbled in my head of what could come of me? I’m just going to have to wait and find out.
