The war of love

The instant connection of love, a powerful feeling, sometimes mistaken for those of other emotions. Donna Elizabeth Wanton and Ryan Craig Fetch were the perfect example of love. In high school, he walked her to her classes and she helped him with homework. After school, he would go to her track meet’s and she would go to his. He would be playing football during a game, but still would notice her cheerleading moves. The love that these two shared was the type of love bond, never to be broken. Once high school was out, most of the people around town thought they would be broken up as soon as college came around. They proved everybody wrong, when they went to the same college and still managed to stay together. College to them was no different to high school, just the fact that in college there was more parties. And the strong bond that kept both Donna and Ryan together would stay with them much longer than anybody could have imagined.

College was getting out and the first real fight they had been into, just started.
“You are just getting out of college! How can you chose to make your life horrible? If you join the army…you can die!” Donna screamed in an angry tone.
“I know what I’m getting myself into. You don’t think I thought about this before I made my mind up? It doesn’t matter anyway because I already registered.” He said with a smirk on his face.
“Then that must mean you didn’t have any further intentions for us…I thought I don’t know, maybe we would get married some day and start a family. But obviously our priorities are much different.” She softly cried.
“I guess, if you don’t plan to support me it must be over.” He said with no smirk anymore.
“Yeah, were done.” She said as she walked away.
“Well can’t we at least talk about this?” He said.
“There’s nothing to talk about, you already made up your mind.” She sniffled.

Just like that, the instant love between two people were broken. His intentions weren’t going to change, he set his mind on a path and wasn’t about to travel off of the path. He went to war and fought for our country. After a period of two years he had traveled most of the world and still wasn’t done. His latest tour was in Paris, here he couldn’t help think of what to him was the love. The thoughts of Donna and him together again creeped into his mind. In the city of love, he sure couldn’t get Donna out of his mind.

She couldn’t stop thinking about her career, she wanted to do a job and become the best of the best from her job. She right now, after two hard years of work, was a author for a fashion magazine. Her job let her go to every major fashion show and runway show, only to write a column about what she saw there. Her job was almost like a “What’s the new thing in fashion.” type of job. But she didn’t mind it, she was able to travel all over the world for this. Her new traveling destination, Paris. There she wanted to go to a small café she heard wonders about. She also heard that the café was normally really busy and needed a reservation, so she made her reservations at Lulu Café for 7:00 sharp.

That same night that Donna was around the Lulu Café, Ryan was too. He and a couple of his buddies were walking around Paris taking in the sights before they were back off to war. One of Ryan’s buddies Sam was talking about a great café his girlfriend visited when she and her family came out to Paris.
“Hey! Ryan, you know that café I was telling you about. The one that Ashley and her family went to during their vacation?” Sam questioned.
“Yeah, I remember you were telling me about that, you said the coffee was amazing?” Ryan asked.
“Yep, that’s the place. Well I don’t know about you guys, but I wouldn’t mind trying some famous Paris coffee.” Sam said smiling.
“Fine. I’ll go. As long as it doesn’t break the bank.” Ryan joked around.
“It’s cheap to!” laughed Sam.
The buddies from war all started to walk around the street of Paris, until they would reach this café. Finally they got directions and were on their way. As soon as Ryan had walked into the front doors, his heart raced rapidly. He starred at Donna, there she was sitting by herself at a small table with a book, reading something with a small coffee next to her left hand.
“I can’t be here Sam, I have to go.” Ryan blurted.
“Why what’s the problem? You were all excited, but now you look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Sam said scoping out the room.
After a small pause Sam said
“Ahh I see. Go talk to her, it’s been two years.”

Donna could hear the laughter of men coming into the café. She wasn’t looking for a relationship now so she didn’t look up and continued to read her novel. That was until she heard a similar voice. Looking up, Donna saw Ryan. He was standing by the door talking to Sam. She remembered Sam, he was always Ryan’s good friend. She also remembered the army was his idea. Sam’s gaze met with Donnas’ and he looked at Ryan and said something slowly. She looked down and started to act like she was reading again.
“Hi.” Ryan said slowly.
She looked up startled and said cheerfully “Hi.”
“You look different…in a good way.” Ryan smiled.
“Thanks. You look different too, in a good way.” She laughed.
“Why thank you.” He giggled.
“So what have you been up to in these two years?” She questioned.
“Still in the army and proud of it.” He said confident her opinion of the matter were changed.
“I see. Well what are you doing in Paris?” She asked.
“I was stationed here, that is before I go back to the real war.” He spoke solemnly.
“Oh. Well how long are you here for?”
“Not long. Actually maybe a week at the longest.” He said sadly.
“That’s long enough for us to catch up?” She smiled.
Right this very instance he wished things could be the way they once were. When he and her were together.
“We can catch up with letters.” He smiled.
“Sure. Well Ryan, it was nice to see you but I’m meeting friends at 7:30 so I have to go.” She said with excitement.
“Ok” he said handing her a letter.
“What’s this?” She said.
She then flipped it over and saw the date. It was from the first month they broke up. From when he was first in the army. She slowly smiled and hugged him.
“I do miss you.” She said with tears in her eyes.

Just like that the once unbreakable bond that was broken got fixed up and glued back together again. He made a point in each of his days to visit her. They visited the Eiffel tower and all the local shops by it. They even got a chance to catch up. But as the days went by and he was getting closer to leaving and she was getting closer to being alone, she wanted him to never leave. She always wanted something to remember him by.

Friday came quickly and he was off for his new station. She cried and held him as he held her. This was an unbearable moment. She never wished anybody to feel the same way she felt. Her heart felt broken then glued together with a glue, that still allowed a couple of pieces to break again.
